This zine is a final love letter from us fans to Riot Forge as a whole, and to the many creative minds behind the Runeterra Universe, from artists, to writers, game devs and many more.
It still feels like yesterday when the Riot Forge project was announced, when we were dreaming, hoping, to see our favorite champions in action, the world we imagined, the epic story we heard and read about...But just like a dream, it didn't last.On January 22nd 2024, Riot Games decided to lay off 530 workers globally, almost 11% of its total workforce. This decision also brought the definitive shutdown of Riot Forge. Shattering news that left many of us deluded, angered and shocked.
Corporate Greed shouldn't be getting in the way of creativity and the livelyhoods of creatives. A good "product" is priceless, a good story, a good game, a good artwork cannot be priced and put on a shelf, between beer cans and cereal boxes.
It's not mere "content" or a "product" at all.
It's art, and art deserves to be celebrated, admired, loved, treated as such.And that's exactly what we want to accomplish with our zine, showing the impact the world of Runeterra had on us, with all its facets.
